Driving Lessons Throughout Warminster
We teach students throughout Warminster and surrounding areas on the western edge of Salisbury Plain. Whether you’re near the High Street, around Warminster Garrison, or anywhere across this market town of 18,000 residents, we collect you from your door.
Many Warminster students feel nervous about learning to drive, which is completely understandable when starting something that feels so significant. We focus on building confidence at your pace, starting with familiar town roads before gradually introducing more challenging conditions as your skills develop naturally through practice. No pressure, no rushing, just steady progress that builds genuine capability.
Warminster sits about 20 miles from Salisbury test centre, which works out to roughly 30 minutes by road through beautiful Wylye Valley countryside. You’ll drive this route twice every lesson, so by test day it feels as automatic and familiar as your regular journeys around town.

Meet Your Warminster Driving Instructors
I became an instructor as I loved driving and found a lot of joy in teaching in a previous job. I genuinely love the job and a lot of passion for what I do. Outside of this, you’ll find me in the gym, up a mountain or at the side of a lake, trying to catch some large carp.
I’ve been a driving instructor for over 20 years now — how time flies! I still teach with passion and a sense of fun, because I believe we all learn quicker when we’re enjoying ourselves.
Outside of lessons, I’ve recently discovered a love for gardening (I must be getting old!). I have two grown-up children who are now enjoying their independence behind the wheel, which gives me more time for long walks with my dog — and the occasional well-earned holiday.
Warminster Driving Lessons FAQs
Is 30 minutes to Salisbury too much of my lesson time from Warminster?
No, because that journey time teaches crucial skills on varied road types that you need. Those 30 minutes each way cover market town driving, the A36 dual carriageway, valley roads, and progressively busier conditions approaching Salisbury. You’re not being transported as a passenger, you’re actively learning throughout the entire journey. Plus, by test day you’ll know that route so well it completely removes navigation stress and lets you focus on the test itself.
I'm nervous about driving. Will starting in a busy market town make it overwhelming?
Not at all, because we control the progression carefully. We start with quieter residential areas of Warminster to build fundamental confidence without overwhelming you with traffic. Only when you’re comfortable do we gradually introduce busier town centre roads, then the A36, then Salisbury itself. The progression feels manageable at each stage rather than throwing you in at the deep end.
Can you collect me from anywhere in Warminster?
Yes, absolutely anywhere that suits you best. Town centre, near the garrison, residential areas, your home, wherever is convenient for you. We know Warminster well after years teaching here and we’re completely flexible about pickup points because we understand people’s schedules vary.
Does the Wylye Valley weather affect driving lessons much?
Sometimes, yes. Valley fog, wind on exposed sections, and winter conditions are more noticeable than in very sheltered areas. We’ll only cancel if conditions are genuinely dangerous, though, because learning in varied weather actually benefits you significantly long-term. Better to experience challenging conditions with an instructor beside you than face them alone after you pass your test.
Will I get enough variety from a market town starting point?
Definitely, more than you’d think. Warminster covers town driving brilliantly, the journey to Salisbury builds A-road and dual carriageway experience through varied landscapes, and your practice in the city itself teaches urban driving. You’ll be more comprehensively trained than students who only ever practice in one similar environment throughout their learning. Market town location means broader skills, not limited options.
Do you offer automatic lessons?
No — we teach manual lessons only.
Do you offer discounts?
Do you teach in the evenings or at weekends?
Yes. We offer weekdays and evenings but we don’t currently offer weekend lessons. Our lessons do fill up fast so they’re all subject to availability.
How do I book?
What is your pricing?
What vehicles do you use?
How long is a lesson?
Lessons are booked in 2‑hour blocks (£85).
I failed before with another instructor – can you help?
We can’t promise miracles, but we can promise a different approach. Over 150 five-star reviews say we’re pretty good at this. We’ll figure out what went wrong before, work on the specific issues, and get you test-ready properly. Loads of our students have been through failed tests with other instructors and passed with us.
Still Have A Question?
Your Warminster Driving Lesson Journey
Most lessons follow a pattern that works well for market town residents who want comprehensive driving education. We pick you up in Warminster, spend about 30 minutes driving to Salisbury while building your road skills through progressively varied conditions, focus on test-standard practice in the city itself, then make the return journey home. That’s an hour of real driving experience plus your Salisbury practice time, which means every lesson delivers serious, comprehensive learning.
Warminster’s location teaches practical skills that matter long-term. The town roads build confidence with traffic lights, roundabouts, and busy junctions, while the A36 route out develops proper A-road technique with faster speeds and dual carriageway sections. By the time you take your test, you’ve covered everything from market town traffic to city centre conditions, which makes you a more capable all-round driver.
The Wylye Valley setting and Salisbury Plain edge position mean you’ll handle weather that changes with the landscape throughout your lessons. Wind across open sections, valley fog in winter months, and conditions that teach you to adapt your driving to what’s actually happening around you rather than just following memorized procedures. That’s proper preparation for real driving situations, not just test-passing techniques.
The 30-minute journey each way isn’t wasted because it’s genuine skill-building time on real roads with varied challenges and traffic patterns. By test day, that route feels so familiar you barely think about it consciously, which frees your mind entirely for the actual test.

View All Testimonials“Rich is amazing!! such a good teacher and made a friend in him too! so patient and easy to chat to and made learning to drive so fun – I passed first time with 3 minors and I felt well prepared for my test. I miss having my weekly lessons with him and would highly recommend to anyone looking to pass their test with ease and quickly :)”
“I could not have asked for a more patient, fun, chilled, calm and helpful driving instructor. Rich was absolutely brilliant. I’d never learned to drive before and at 37 (and being totally new to Salisbury) was a bit overwhelmed to say the least! This week I passed first time with one minor fault and am so grateful for the work Rich put in. He was incredibly clear and positive, always encouraging and pleasant to drive with and just a wonderful all round teacher. After a terrible experience with Mike Del Grosso (another Salisbury instructor that I really would not recommend) I landed on my feet here. If he’s available, book him in, or if not, wait til he is, just cannot recommend enough.”
“What a great time. Having learnt the basics separately before taking any lessons I was relived to have a change of pace and tone with Rich’s fair and comforting teaching. He gets to know you and forms a connection with you to better understand how you make your decisions and what to fix. Always providing you with direction and clarity within his feedback throughout the lessons. Always friendly and always professional. Would 200% recommend and would pick again if I had the chance.”
“Rich is one of the best driving instructors around! There is not one day where I didn’t look forward to doing driving lessons with him, each lessons is filled with laughter and just good times and at the same time learning as much as you can. I learned pretty quickly with Rich and taught me all the stuff I need to do to pass my driving test. He’s a very straight forward and efficient instructor, he taught me everything considering I had no experience in driving. His lessons are very structured and split into parts in a way where you can understand it more clearly. Although, learning how to drive is not the only thing I learnt from Rich, I also learnt many life lessons from Rich, and how to always think positive whatever the situation is. I highly recommend Rich as a driving instructor, he will get you that driving license before you eve know it, but you also have to put the effort and determination to it. Anyways, thank you for everything Rich! Learning how to drive with you is a memory I will forever cherish! I will miss our weekly Monday lessons. I passed first time, he’s called PASSMASTER for a reason🤗”
“I couldn’t recommend Rich enough, Due to my situation i needed driving lessons in a short period of time all of which he was able to accommodate working around my busy and complex work schedule.
Instantly i got along with him very well and learning was easily due to his friendly nature and very good teaching styles.
I passed my extended driving test within 3 lessons with which was a true credit to Rich. Each lesson was thoroughly enjoyable and almost a shame i don’t have any more.
Thanks again Rich, it really was a pleasure you teaching me and spending time with you.”
“I want to say a massive thank you to Rich from Passmaster! At the beginning I was very nervous about driving and was struggling to get my head round the basics. Rich was extremely patient and took everything at my own pace and was more than happy to answer all questions whilst building up my knowledge and confidence.
Each lesson was tailored to my individual needs, I never felt like I was being rushed and no question was a stupid one! Every lesson was fun and we had a right laugh along the way.
When test day arrived I was very nervous and very much doubted myself, and again Rich made me feel very supported, at complete ease and I am over the moon that I passed this week with no minors which I never thought would be possible!! It has been an absolute pleasure to be taught by Rich and I will miss my Friday mornings, cannot thank Passmaster enough!”
“I challenge anyone to find a more perfect driving instructor!!!
Rich is genuinely one of the most friendly and interesting people I’ve ever come across, I immediately felt welcome and comfortable sharing a space with him for two hours a week, and I found myself looking forward to my lessons just because I enjoyed our conversations so much.
From the get go he was always patient, able to crack jokes to diffuse stressful situations and his explanations of driving scenarios were so clear and concise it would be impossible not to absorb the information. There was not a single moment I did not trust him with either my safety or my driving education and it was only because of him that I went from zero experience to passing my test first try.
Rich- if you’re reading this I miss you man! I hope life is treating you well and I’ll try my hardest to keep Wednesdays sunny for you x”
“So grateful I had Rich as my instructor. He’s punctual, organised and an incredible teacher with a calm but informative style. We were on a tight schedule before my test date and he tailored the lessons and progression to my needs and requirements. Would recommend him to anyone. Thanks rich!”
“I started driving lessons when I was 17, and have gone through 3 other driving instructors but found it just wasn’t the right fit. I’m 21 now and passed my test yesterday, and it was all thanks to Rich. After not driving for almost a year and a half I started again in January with rich and by April I have now passed. And I couldn’t have done it without him. He is genuinely the most lovely guy and puts you so at ease. Any mistakes made he doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable he tells you it’s fine and I would improve and we carry on. He explains everything in a way that you just understand and means you can remember easily. I would recommend Rich to anyone who asked me about driving lessons as I genuinely couldn’t think of anyone better to learn with. And I’ve tried a few… Thank you again, So So much!”
