Your Driving Instructors for Bulford
I became an instructor as I loved driving and found a lot of joy in teaching in a previous job. I genuinely love the job and a lot of passion for what I do. Outside of this, you’ll find me in the gym, up a mountain or at the side of a lake, trying to catch some large carp.
I’ve been a driving instructor for over 20 years now — how time flies! I still teach with passion and a sense of fun, because I believe we all learn quicker when we’re enjoying ourselves.
Outside of lessons, I’ve recently discovered a love for gardening (I must be getting old!). I have two grown-up children who are now enjoying their independence behind the wheel, which gives me more time for long walks with my dog — and the occasional well-earned holiday.
Bulford Driving Lessons FAQs
Can you work around camp life and shift patterns?
Yes. We’ve taught loads of people from Bulford Camp over the years and we’re used to the irregular schedules. Exercise coming up? Posting imminent? Weird shift pattern? We’ll work it out. Just be upfront about your situation and we’ll sort something that fits.
Is 25 minutes to Salisbury too much of my lesson time?
No. That 25 minutes each way is actual driving practice on proper roads. You’re learning, not just being driven about. Plus you’ll know the test route inside out, which is gold on exam day. Most of your time is still focused practice in Salisbury anyway.
Where exactly do you pick up from in Bulford?
Literally wherever suits you best. Village high street, near the church, the schools, camp access points, your house. We know the area and we’re flexible. Just tell us what’s most convenient and we’ll make it happen.
Salisbury Plain weather can be harsh. Will we still have lessons?
Yes, unless conditions are genuinely dangerous. Learning in varied weather is actually good preparation. Wind, fog, rain? You need experience in these. Better to learn with an instructor than face them alone after you pass.
Do you offer automatic lessons?
No — we teach manual lessons only.
Do you teach in the evenings or at weekends?
Yes. We offer weekdays and evenings but we don’t currently offer weekend lessons. Our lessons do fill up fast so they’re all subject to availability.
How long is a lesson?
Lessons are booked in 2‑hour blocks (£85).
How do I book?
I’m nervous. Can you help?
Absolutely. We start simple, build confidence, and only add new challenges when you’re ready.
What is your pricing?
What vehicles do you use?
I failed before with another instructor – can you help?
We can’t promise miracles, but we can promise a different approach. Over 150 five-star reviews say we’re pretty good at this. We’ll figure out what went wrong before, work on the specific issues, and get you test-ready properly. Loads of our students have been through failed tests with other instructors and passed with us.
Still Have A Question?
Practice Routes from Bulford to Salisbury
Most lessons follow a pattern: pick up in Bulford, 25-minute drive to Salisbury, focused test practice there, then back. That’s 50 minutes of real road driving plus your Salisbury practice time each lesson.
Bulford’s roads teach different skills. The village roads build confidence with residential driving. The route out to Salisbury covers A-roads, rural sections, and busier approach roads. By the time you test, you’ve driven from Bulford to the test centre so many times you could do it with your eyes closed (don’t actually do that).
The Salisbury Plain location means weather matters. Wind across open areas, occasional fog, winter conditions that last. Good preparation, because you need to handle different conditions anyway.
That 25-minute journey each way? Not wasted time. Real driving practice building up skills and making the test route familiar.

View All Testimonials“My instructor was Richard Langley and I can say that he is absolutely the best driving instructor that I’ve had.
If you are serious about being a good driver and not just passing your test, want structure and genuine thought into your learning process and someone who will pinpoint your weaknesses and help you get past them, go with Rich.
The lessons are two hours when I was doing them, and the test itself will seem remarkably easy in comparison to Rich putting you through your paces. Highly recommended and good choice if you are brand new to driving or you are swapping instructors and just need someone to iron out your weaknesses.
Lastly, I’ll say that Rich made himself available to help me pass on a day that he’d normally have off – the man genuinely cares about his students. Can’t ask for more from a teacher.”
“If you are looking for great driving school then you are at the right place! I can’t recommend Passmaster enough.
Rich was really friendly, easy to get along and a great laugh which made the whole process much more enjoyable. He is super reliable and excellent teacher with great knowledge, staying patient and calm throughout lessons, which is what you need in an instructor when learning to drive. The lessons are planned and tailored to ensure you feel comfortable and confident on the roads whilst staying safe, with any weakness you may have being worked on in good time. I passed first time with Rich and so did my brother! I honestly don’t think you could find a better instructor out there!
I can’t thank Rich enough and will definitely miss the lessons! ☺️”
“I loved learning to drive with Rich, i can’t fault him. He always made me feel so comfortable and was patient with me. Passed first time!! His attitude to teaching is brilliant and i loved having a good chatter (when safe of course) as he is so funny. Brilliant at communicating and working to what suits both him and you. Defo recommend!”
“Passed first time learning with Rich. He was very patient, and good at tailoring the lessons to match my progress. Overall a great experience”
“I couldn’t recommend Rich enough, Due to my situation i needed driving lessons in a short period of time all of which he was able to accommodate working around my busy and complex work schedule.
Instantly i got along with him very well and learning was easily due to his friendly nature and very good teaching styles.
I passed my extended driving test within 3 lessons with which was a true credit to Rich. Each lesson was thoroughly enjoyable and almost a shame i don’t have any more.
Thanks again Rich, it really was a pleasure you teaching me and spending time with you.”
“So grateful I had Rich as my instructor. He’s punctual, organised and an incredible teacher with a calm but informative style. We were on a tight schedule before my test date and he tailored the lessons and progression to my needs and requirements. Would recommend him to anyone. Thanks rich!”
“Rich from Passmaster is an absolute legend, I love this guy. Passed first time all thanks to Rich. Every penny was worth it. He’s so chilled, laid back, and definitely an laugh and all round just and awesome driving instructor. Going to miss him.”
“I was very nervous to start driving and being in the car with a stranger but Rich is patient and funny and really puts worries at ease. He was incredible with me when I would ask blunt or silly questions, always able to talk through things when I didn’t understand. And made time for me months later when I booked a second test and then passed!! 100% recommend him!”
“For anyone looking to learn to drive, Rich is your guy. Besides being a very competent driving instructor, he is calm, patient, humorous, and a general legend. I was lucky to get a cancellation for my driving test, and Rich set aside extra lessons, including one outside of his normal hours, to ensure that I had the best chance of passing, which I did, with just one minor, which was completely my own fault. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to learn to drive.”
